In 2019, Telford & Wrekin Council declared a climate emergency. It is now working, along with partners, to go carbon neutral by 2030 – and to reduce single-use plastic across the council by 2023!

Refill makes a splash in the borough!

There are now over 100 Refill Stations in the borough - all offering FREE tap water refills.

Refill makes a splash in the borough!

Since last summer, the council and a number of community groups have helped to more than double the number of Refill Stations in the borough!

All you need to get a FREE refill is an empty bottle - and the Refill app which will tell you where your nearest Refill Station is.

In Newport, the community group Sustainable Newport launched Refill Newport in March 2019, as a complement to their Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free communities campaign. They have since signed up over 20 locations, including pubs, cafes, retailers and several service providers such as hairdressers and opticians.

Save money and the environment

The Council celebrated National Refill Day in 2019 by signing up our buildings and offices as Refill Stations – to ensure local residents can save money and save the environment with FREE tap water refills.

According to Refill, if just 1 in 10 Brits refilled just once a week, we’d save around 340 million plastic bottles a year!

In Madeley too, Local Champion and Town Councillor, Helena Morgan, has launched Refill Madeley.

Since then, Refill Wellington, supported by the Town Council, was launched in the autumn and has been signing up stations ever since.

November 2020 update:  Please note all Refill stations are subject to availability due to Covid restrictions
